On Saturday, April 10 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, the Center for Women in Transition will present "Bridging Home" a
program about the organization's mission and programs featuring one of the mentees, a board member and the
Center's Executive Director. The Center for Women in Transition provides tools, supports and resources to help
women who have recently been released from jail/prison. Through participation in this program these women are able
to make positive choices, achieve meaningful goals and be accountable for past actions.
The organization provides its clients with a wide array of referrals and services that help women achieve stable
housing and employment, reunification with family and freedom from addiction. One key to the program's success is a
one-on-one mentoring program in which each client is matched with a volunteer mentor who offers guidance and hope
for a brighter future during a one-year partnership.
As a direct result of these services, clients exhibit a substantially lower rate of recidivism than state averages, resulting
in improved self-image for the women, stability for their children and families, and safer communities. There will be
time for discussion and questions.

Wind Capital Group is currently developing utility-scale wind projects in more than

Capital Group is developing a 150 MW wind project in Northwest Missouri. At

Health Care Committee and International Relations Committee.
Two of the League's committees, Health Care and International Relations, are
working together to bring members a presentation on obstetric fistula. We
encourage all members to join us on Saturday morning, October 9,
at 10 a.m. to hear Dr. Lewis Wall, a renowned authority on the subject. Dr.
Wall, an ob-gyn at Washington University, is building a hospital in Danja,
Niger. In addition to repairing fistulas, the hospital will also organize outreach
efforts to promote maternal health and reduce deaths in childbirth.
Fistula has been labeled the forgotten international women's health and human rights problem. To quote
Nicholas Kristof in an op-ed in the NY Times: "This is a childbirth injury, often suffered by a teenager in
Africa or Asia whose pelvis is not fully grown. She suffers obstructed labor, has no access to a C-section,
and endures internal injuries that leave her incontinent.... She stinks. She becomes a pariah."
The meeting will be held on the third floor of Cape Albeon, located at 3390 Lake Bend Drive, Valley
Park, at 10 a.m. on October 9th. (Take Big Bend west to Dougherty Ferry, turn left, or take 270 to the
Dougherty Ferry exit, follow Dougherty Ferry west past Big Bend and then left on Lake Bend.)
